BASRA, Iraq, Feb. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- BIOGH today released details of its master plan for its Basra Oil and Gas International Free Zone project in Basra, Iraq through it's corporate website www.biogh.com. Development of the 11 million square metre oil and gas free zone facility has already begun, with the initial site perimeter security planning currently underway.
The vision for the project is to create a world-class 24/7 secure and dedicated oil and gas supply chain service centre within the International Free Zone that responds to tenant demands on a phased basis. The project will utilise the latest technologies and best practices to create a safe and sustainable environment. The project is projected to employ and train between 10,000 to 15,000 local employees and professionals for the long-term benefit of the local Iraqi communities.
The Basra Oil and Gas International Free Zone will provide a broad range of tenants with the highest quality facilities, state-of-the-art security and technology, and excellent transportation access and convenience. The project will provide flexible space and infrastructure for commercial and industrial tenants, manufacturing, storage, logistics, administration and security, and other oil and gas service providers. Tenant space will be supported by new roads, communications and utilities infrastructure, as well as planning for aviation and medevac facilities. Of great benefit to the tenants will be the on-site and dedicated customs services and immigration facility that will be strategically located for convenient access to all tenants and visitors.
Complimentary to the development will be a self-contained residential area, where residents will have the choice of occupancy types with access to the Country Club, sporting facilities, a broad range of general retail, duty free shopping, food service and restaurants, medical and dental, banking, as well as comprehensive entertainment amenities. Landscaping around the Club and retail areas will enhance the residential experience.
Connecting the many facilities within the project is a network of service roads, utilities, technology and communications. Transportation will be provided for the tenants within the Free Zone. The main access road network from the Basra International Free Zone will provide excellent connections to the adjacent shipping port of Khor Al Zubair, local airports including Basra International Airport, the city of Basra, and other strategic centres in Iraq and surrounding regions.
