Best Kitchen Knives and Stainless Cookware Announced by 10rate; Shun, Cuisinart, and Enclume Win Top Honors

10rate editors collaborate to look at knife sets, santoku and chef's knives, cookware sets and pot racks to choose the best from each

ATLANTA, April 26, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Knives and cookware are some of the most important tools in a successful kitchen. Editors from 10rate have done the work of sorting through all the knives, pots, and pans out there to decide which were the best from their categories so shoppers will know which are worthy for their kitchens. Once the choices were narrowed down, editors rated the products on a scale of 1 to 10 and awarded various editor's choice awards for quality, value, and budget. Some of the criteria used to rate these the knives were strong blades, comfortable grips, included storage, ease of cleaning and sharpening, and price. Editors looked at ease of cleaning, durability, even heating, oven-safe, and value for the cookware products.

Knife sets are probably the easiest way to go for stocking a kitchen with quality knives for all sorts of purposes. Not all knife sets are created equally. Some may come with extra knives that won't see much use, while some come with a handy knife block. Brittany Rowland chose the Shun DM2002B as the Best Knife Set. In her review, she said this set has "high-quality knives forged of extra-strong stainless steel for a hard but not brittle feel. The blades retain their edges incredibly well, requiring just regular honing. What we love about these knives is how you can see the layers of stainless steel in the blade, an intricate pattern that indicates the strength behind these knives."

Many cooking aficionados are looking for one go-to knife to do all of the work for them. This is where the chef's knife plays an important role. The Global G-2 was awarded the top spot of the Chef's Knife Reviews list. This professional grade knife "features a razor-sharp blade that comes to a thin point instead of beveling. Lightweight at only one pound, and featuring a non-slip grip, you'll enjoy using this knife for all sorts of tasks in the kitchen. Its high carbon stainless steel construction has no seams between the blade and the handle," Brittany said in her review.

Santoku knives are a different style and have a different background compared to chef's knives. These are meant to be all around performers too. The best knife of the Santoku Knives Ratings list was the Shun DM0718. Some of the strengths of this knife were: "Cuts effortlessly through tough and delicate foods alike, food releases easily from the blade, a sleek, comfortable handle design, pakka wood handle is moisture-resistant and glossy, and it is extremely sharp."

Like knife sets, a cookware set is the quickest way to fit a kitchen with all the necessary pots and pans. The Cuisinart 77-10 set received the best spot on the Cookware Set Ratings list with a 9.5 and the Best Quality editor's choice award. Brittany did the review on this one too and she said, "it includes various saucepans and skillets, plus a large stock pot and saute pan. All come with a brilliant mirror finish that make these pieces something you'll be happy to show off. The riveted handles are built for stability; they're easy to grip, balanced, and stay cool to the touch."

Unfortunately cookware sets usually don't come with a handy knife block like the knife sets. Sometimes finding a place for all of those pots and pans can be difficult. Pot racks are the stylish answer to this problem. The Top 10 Pot Racks list has the Enclume DR4 as the best one out there. The reviewer said, "Enclume's oval pot rack is an excellent choice. Its sturdy steel is hammered into shape and given a distressed finish for the greatest visual appeal. The 12 pot hooks descending from the grid support even your biggest, bulkiest pots and pans." conducts reviews in various product and services categories and publishes "Expert Top 10 Lists for Everything in your life." The company's web site strives to "Make it Easy" to select from the hundreds of choices there are in the product and service market place. All products and services are thoroughly researched by the companies expert editors prior to receiving a rating on a 1-10 scale.
