Academic Consortium for Complementary & Alternative Health Care (ACCAHC) Announces Name Change to the Academic Collaborative for Integrative Health (ACIH) "The Collaborative"

A Consortium of Licensed Integrative Health and Medicine Academic and Educational Organizations that Promotes Collaborative, Team-based Care and Focuses on the Whole Person, Health and Well-Being

SEATTLE, Wash., Feb. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The Academic Consortium for Complementary & Alternative Health Care (ACCAHC) has announced today that the organization has changed its name to the Academic Collaborative for Integrative Health (ACIH), "The Collaborative."

David O'Bryon, JD, ACIH Chair of the Board states, "We believe our new name reflects the essence of our professions – a focus on health and well-being as well as the treatment of a wide variety of diseases and conditions that are approached from collaborative, team-based patient/person-centered care."

O'Bryon adds, "We are already a functioning collaborative – our core membership includes 18 national organizations representing councils of colleges, accreditation organizations recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, and certification/testing agencies, as well as emerging disciplines and traditional world medicines and collaborate in the true sense of interprofessional health care delivery."

Each of ACIH's committees is structured as an interprofessional collaboration. Over 40 individual colleges are ACIH members. O'Bryon notes, "ACIH has also engaged in multiple collaborative projects with our conventional medicine colleagues and we have more in the works for 2016."
