AC Hotel Portland Downtown Now Open

PORTLAND, Ore., March 1, 2017 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- AC Hotel Portland Downtown, the modern, design-driven brand from Marriott, officially welcomed its first guests on Monday, February 20, 2017. Located in the heart of downtown, on the corner of SW Third Avenue and Taylor Street, the AC Hotels by Marriott property is the brand's newest lifestyle hotel and the first location in Portland.

Developed by McWHINNEY and Mortenson, part-owned by McWHINNEY, part-owned and operated by Sage Hospitality, and designed by SERA Architects, AC Hotel Portland Downtown is part of a new breed of lifestyle hotels targeting creative and entrepreneurial travelers. The new 13-story hotel blends modern European design with unique spaces meant to inspire creativity and innovation, including purposefully curated Portland-inspired artwork. The ideal location offers convenient access to downtown, and tremendous views of the city, Willamette River and Mt. Hood.

Along with 204 signature guestrooms, a 24/7 fitness center and a European-style breakfast, local companies and guests will be able to take advantage of the 1,675 square feet of meeting space, including collaborative media salons and a boardroom meeting room. Guests will enjoy the signature AC Lounge and Bar with Portland's own Water Avenue coffee, craft beers and cocktails featuring local ingredients on tap, a selection of tapas-inspired small bites, as well as live music.

"We're excited to become not only a hotel destination in downtown Portland, but also a community spot where Portland natives can gather to enjoy an ever-changing variety of the best the city has to offer," said Erica Endorf, general manager of AC Portland Downtown. "With our prime location and on-site amenities, guests will be able to immediately immerse themselves in this fast-growing city."

Based on the belief that purposeful design improves lives, AC Hotels carves away what is unnecessary, in order to provide guests with thoughtfully designed moments of beauty; moments that elevate their stay and help them focus on what is important to them. That is why at all AC Hotels, guests get only what they need, without paying for what they don't. The result is sophisticated yet unpretentious style, innovative beverage and food programming and locally inspired experiences for both guests and locals.

Beverage and Food Programming

At AC Hotels, premium touches are balanced with comfortable service. A signature element of the Portland hotel includes an innovative beverage and food program within its AC Lounge. A twist on the traditional hotel bar, the experience includes offerings of local food and craft beers, specialty wines, a selection of tapas-style small bites and expertly made signature cocktails on tap with a nightly ritual. Labeled "The Rose City", the signature AC Portland cocktail features Bull Run Bourbon, Isabela Sherry, Amaretto and Peychaud's Bitters, curated by the hotel bartender.

Located adjacent to the AC Lounge, the AC Kitchen serves a European-inspired continental breakfast selection of flaky croissants, savory egg tarts, Nespresso coffee and a signature Berkel slicer, offering visitors hand-cut meats including artisanal La Quercia Prosciutto for a true taste of Europe.

Signature Design

AC Hotels by Marriott is designed for those creative, well-traveled, entrepreneurial spirits who are constantly on the go and who appreciate the oasis of a well-designed hotel that allows them to welcome moments of tranquility, be present and connect with others. Taking influence from its European roots, AC Hotel Portland Downtown uses deep gray and charcoal tones throughout, showcasing a timeless design that is contemporary and sleek. Guest rooms incorporate monochromatic schemes, with clean lines and hardwood floors. Furniture is lifted from the ground to create a sense of space and crisp white linens are used to craft a look that's both refined and elegant.

The AC Lobby features the brand's signature open-concept spaces and features a thoughtfully selected collection of inviting furnishings, modern designs and textures that evoke the feeling of a well-curated art gallery. In addition to locally curated art and a nightly cocktail ritual completely unique to this location, the AC Portland includes an art installation of a ram sitting on a house – to represent the outside of the box thinking of the city. Affectionately dubbed "Antonio the Ram," this art installation will enjoy a voice on the hotel's social media channels reporting on happenings in the lobby, and will feature seasonal costume elements in order to serve as the perfect "selfie spot" for any visit. Décor and furnishings in the hotel are designed to reflect the uniqueness and character of its urban Portland location.

AC Library

The AC Library provides a quiet space to linger and peruse the selection of inspiring titles that line the shelves, ranging from modern art to design, all in a soothing environment. The AC Library Portland Downtown will feature a rotating selection of specially selected reads by guest curators.

Additional Amenities

The 13-story hotel also offers complimentary Wi-Fi for guests and locals to work, connect, explore and socialize. When a private meeting area is needed, guests can book a variety of spaces, which vary in size and are equipped with the latest audio-visual technology. Additional amenities include state-of-the-art fitness centers, on-site parking and wireless service buttons in the public and meetings spaces-- enabling guests to immediately request a staff member's attention.

The new Portland location is AC Hotels by Marriott's 13th property in North America (first in the Pacific Northwest), and is part of a growing portfolio of over 60 hotels expected to open in the next few years in the U.S. and Latin America
