4Degrees Data Center Awarded the Prestigious PCI DSS Data Security Certification

This certification will allow 4Degrees customers to operate their e-commerce solutions securely

QUEBEC CITY, Dec. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- 4Degrees Colocation Inc., the company behind the new, cutting edge mega data center of the same name, was awarded the coveted PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry - Data Security Standard) certification. Born of a collaboration between Visa, MasterCard, American Express and other major credit card issuers, this certification will allow 4Degrees customers to operate their e-commerce solutions under the most stringent data security standards in the industry.

4Degrees is the only data center in the Quebec City region to hold this level of certification. This latest recognition comes shortly after the company was awarded the prestigious Tier III certification from the Uptime Institute in August.

"We are very proud to have achieved this important certification. PCI DSS represents the highest standards in matters relating to electronic transactions. At 4Degrees, we strive to provide our customers with a sturdy, highly secure infrastructure and rock-solid reliability. This new certification demonstrates our commitment to respect global data security standards.", affirmed Martin Bouchard, president of 4Degrees Colocation, one of the 25 leading pioneers of information technology (IT) in Quebec.

At a time when rules are being tightened to protect data confidentiality and integrity, 4Degrees does not skimp when it comes to security features:  the data center is fitted with fifty surveillance cameras, security guards patrol around-the-clock, underground power and fiber optic data network, a biometric access control system, a robust building structure with integrated seismic standards, and more. All this contained in a new, custom-designed building which is strategically located to ensure optimal service reliability.

4Degrees Colocation Inc. (www.4degres.com) is the company behind the largest Internet colocation facility ever built in the Quebec City area in Canada. This major project was designed to provide businesses and institutions with a sophisticated and high availability Tier III colocation infrastructure and secure e-commerce payment options (PCI DSS) in the heart of Quebec City.

With an ideal combination of clean hydroelectric power and very cold temperatures, this eastern Canadian region is one of the best places in the world to implement a data center. 4Degrees takes its name from the average annual temperature in Quebec City, 4.6°C. Through the use of colder outdoor air, 4Degrees is able to maintain IT equipment at an optimal operating temperatures while generating significant energy savings.
