NAPERVILLE, Ill., Oct. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- If the idea that competition breeds innovation holds even the slightest bit of validity, next year's models from the competitors of the 2014 Chevy Malibu are going to really be impressive. The 2014 Malibu has arrived at the Chevrolet of Naperville showroom amidst a buzz of increased capability. This year's Chevy Malibu has gone through an almost total redesign that gives the 2014 Malibu a more aggressive and athletic look. Also, the new look to the 2014 Chevy Malibu shares some elements with the other sedans in the 2014 Chevy lineup such as the new Impala and the Chevy SS which has yet to be released. It is a part of what General Motors and Chevrolet is calling a "Cohesive Design Concept."
A new engine will be under the hood for the base trim of the 2014 Chevy Malibu, and it is one of several factors that are making this mid-size sedan one of the most exciting releases in that automotive segment for the 2014 model-year. The all new ECOTEC 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine will produce 196-horsepower and an increased amount of torque to provide more performance at the lower end of the power band, which increases fuel-economy at lower speeds, according to Chevrolet.
The fuel-saving technology that is packed into the ECOTEC engine is nothing short of exceptional. Chevrolet engineers have introduced an advanced system that is intended to adapt to the current driving conditions and demands by the driver to make subtle changes in the engine valves to save fuel. Depending on a number of factors, the engine will customize the valves to pump only the required amount of air needed for the most efficient use of fuel. The new engine in the 2014 Chevy Malibu also features a start/stop function that not only stops and restarts the engine as needed, but also monitors several tangential functions that rely on engine power to operate, such as air conditioning.
When all of these factors are taken into account, the new 2014 Chevy Malibu will record 25 miles per gallon in the city and 36 miles per gallon on the highway. These 2014 Chevy Malibu fuel-economy estimates from the Environmental Protection Agency will place the new Chevy Malibu ahead of long-term leaders of the industry segment such as the Toyota Camry and Ford Fusion.
